Hold for a year and a day, and the rate drops.

The IRS taxes coins held a year or less at your ordinary rate of 10–37%, and coins held longer at 0%, 15% or 20%. HashBooks splits every disposal by its own holding period and fills Part I and Part II of Form 8949 for you.

United Kingdom

HMRC matches first, then it averages.

A UK disposal is matched with same-day buys, then buys in the next 30 days, and only then with the Section 104 pool. After the £3,000 allowance, gains are taxed at 18% or 24%. HashBooks labels the rule behind every SA108 line.

India

A loss can’t cancel a gain in India. We don’t pretend it can.

Section 115BBH taxes every profitable transfer at 30% plus cess and ignores losses entirely. Plenty of tools still net them. HashBooks reports loss rows as nil, reconciles your 1% TDS under Section 194S and checks gifts under Section 56(2)(x).

Canada

In Canada, half a gain is the taxable part.

Canada includes 50% of a capital gain in your income, worked out on the adjusted cost base of everything you hold. HashBooks pools every purchase across your accounts and fills Schedule 3, or T2125 if you trade as a business.

Germany

Hold for a year in Germany, and the gain is tax-free.

Coins sold more than a year after purchase are tax-free private sales. Under a year, gains stay tax-free while the year’s total is below €1,000; above it, all of it is taxable. HashBooks checks both for Anlage SO.

Irish CGT took 33% of net gains above the €1,270 annual exemption for 2025, and 31% applies to disposals from 7 October 2026. It’s paid in two windows: by 15 December and by 31 January. HashBooks watches the four-week rule and fills Form CG1.

Good questions, straight answers.

What countries do you support?

Eight. The United States (Form 8949 plus Schedule D), the United Kingdom (SA108), India (Schedule VDA), Australia (myTax capital gains), Canada (Schedule 3 or T2125), Germany (Anlage SO), Ireland (Form CG1) and Singapore (an IRAS income summary). Each one also comes with a per-disposal CSV.

How do you calculate my taxes?

Each transaction is priced on its own date, and the original exchange row or on-chain transaction stays attached to every figure. Click a total and follow it down to the record it came from.

Is my data safe?

No. It reads data and nothing else — the product contains no code that can trade, withdraw or transfer. We never ask for a seed phrase, a private key or your exchange password. API keys are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and deleted the moment you remove the connection.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. Disconnecting an exchange or wallet deletes its stored API keys immediately, and deleting your account permanently purges all data from our servers. You remain in control at all times.

Do you support DeFi and NFTs?

Yes. Swaps are recognised from the shape of the transaction on every supported chain, Aave and Lido positions are read from the protocols, and ERC-721 and ERC-1155 NFTs are included. For tokenized real-world assets it reads Ondo, Maple and Centrifuge, keeping yield apart from price change.

Who builds it

Built by BlockchainX, a Sparkout Tech company.

HashBooks is built by BlockchainX, the blockchain development company of Sparkout Tech, with 9+ years of shipping blockchain products. That experience with exchange data and on-chain activity is what the engine stands on. Why HashBooks
